How many threads can I be in?
As many non-expedition threads as you can handle. For expedition threads, each character can only be in one at a time, and each player cannot have more than one character in the same expedition. IE, if a player has 2 characters, they can both be in an expedition, but they can't be in the same expedition; they have to be in 2 different ones.
How old is the site?
The site opened on July 1, 2017. You can do the math from there.
Will I be underpowered if I join now?
Nope! Everyone "levels up" together, and the only things that increase individual power only increase a character's versatility rather than their raw power. The people that have been here longer than you will have a few more options, but won't be outright better.
Can I have x power?
Probably. We encourage everyone to be creative, and the staff are willing to work with you to make your power work. Just keep in mind that this is a very low power setting, so magic isn't supposed to be that strong.
But this isn't overpowered at all! Why does it need to be nerfed?
This is a very low power setting. We're not concerned with something being overpowered, we're concerned with it fitting with in the lower power level on the site. Keep in mind that people that can't use magic are supposed to be able to take people that can use magic in a fight if they have decent fighting skills.
Do you have a list of plants and animals that can be found in Twilight Jungle?
It's a rainforest. I could spend a bunch of time talking about rafflesia flowers, Dipterocarpaceae trees or what have you, but they're all things that exist in the real world. If it exists here, it exists in Twilight Jungle. Hell, a lot of the plants and animals are mutated, so if you want to make something up you can even do that!
Do you have a list of all the otherworldly monsters?
There isn't one. If you're going up against a monster in the ruins, they'll be described to you. Otherwise, feel free to make up your own weird creatures. They're varied enough that you can come up with anything and it'd make sense. The only thing they have in common is impossible biology and no apparent intelligence (on the level of like an animal). Mutated animals are similar, but their biology is still with in the realms of possibility unlike the monsters. So go wild and come up with some things to fight!
How long ago did the wasteland form?
No one knows. Some geology and other science suggests anywhere for 3000 years ago to 1000 years ago. Basically, it's been a really long time.
Does x thing exist in the city?
The boards were designed so just about anything you want to exist in the city can exist in the city. Just because there's not an explicit sub-board for it doesn't mean it's not there. Just keep threads appropriate and you'll be fine.
Where would this thread go?
Check the descriptions of each of the main boards and see which one sounds best. If you're not sure, just pick one and roll with it. No one will yell at you if you get it wrong.
Can I make a non-human character?
No, everyone is human. Some of them are just humans with strange mutations.
Can I have x mutation?
Probably. Just try to link it up with their power somehow rather than using it for purely aesthetic reasons. That said, staff aren't going to be too picky on this.
What kind of technology does the city have?
It's basically like the west in the real world. If it exists in real life, it exists in the city. There are some differences between New Sumatra and the real world, but they're fairly subtle, so this is a very safe assumption to make. That means that yes, the city does have cell phones, internet access, and the like.
Will you ever write more optional reads or additional setting information?
Probably based on what people discover and what-not. I'll also consider adding more if I get enough requests for something that should be common knowledge with in the setting if time allows.
What is the recommended attribute distribution?
11 in 2 attributes and 16 in 1. Going below 11 in your attributes can make things hard on your team. Having your PASSION too low means the team doesn't get much energy and the expedition won't last very long. Having your BRAVERY too low means you're very likely to get injured by room difficulty. Having your FRIENDSHIP too low severely limits the amount of loot you get per room. Going one or two below won't hurt things too badly, but if you do go below that you will be a liability to your team, and it's very likely that they would do better if you didn't join their expedition at all no matter how high your other stats are. This is different for characters without magic as they cannot achieve such high stats. For them, going below about 7 is problematic, especially if they intend to go adventuring in the ruins.
