Clark stopped in the doorway. He hadn't meant to scare anyone, and had forgotten how his little trick would look to someone unprepared. The businessman gave up precious seconds to go back to Theodora. He really needed to be fast, but this venture wasn't worth his morals. When he got close enough, he whispered.
"Sorry, there was a freak accident, but everyone is safe. It was just the fuse. Also, there will be an anonymous donation to the school covering the cost of the all the light-bulbs and fuses that will be damaged, as well as the security camera you pointed out. Now, I need to hurry. I'm headed to the office and I doubt security will be occupied long."
Telling Theodora this was even riskier than the seconds he was wasting. The student could do anything to get Clark caught. He hoped she would understand. It was illegal, but necessary. Nobody would get hurt, and he'd make it right later. A thought in the back of his head threatened to make him feel guilty. There was one thing he was still trying to make right. He assured himself this was different.

Theodora waited for a response from Clark again, unfortunately, he did not respond. However, he then soon began to whisper to her, causing her to gasp in fright before quickly calming down as he explained what happened. "Anonymous donation, you mean you right?" Theo said in the darkness. She moved her hands, trying to touch Clark so she can know where he is.
She then started to get concerned when he mentioned that he was going to an office. "Wait, what office, the security office?" Theodora tried to reach out to him again, struggling to hold the book under her arm and keeping her balance in the darkness.
"Mister?" Theodora called out again to Clark, being very confused.

"No, not me. To say 'me' would imply that I somehow knew the precise amount of damage that was just done. I am going to the security office, though. A crime has been committed, and with the security forces occupied it would be negligent of me not to help them out."
Clark became aware that Theodora was struggling.
"Here."
He pulled a phone out of his pocket and turned the screen on. It worked as a dim flashlight. Holding a light-source made his chances of being caught a million times worse, so he held his finger on the power button and kept an ear out for other people. If Theodora was still scared, there was nothing more he could do. Satisfied, he resumed heading toward the office. His footsteps weren't as quiet, and his stride was much longer. There was a lot of time he had to make up.

"Well do you know the person that's making the payment?" Theodora asked, wanting answers. However she was handed a phone in response, which she took from Clark as it lit up around the area she was in a little bit. It did help for her but she was wondering why Clark gave her the phone. Well at least she has something that she can use to find him.
Theodora waved the phone around, trying to find Clark. She heard footsteps and so started to move forward. "Who is that? Hello?" Theo called out as she tried to follow the sounds of the footsteps using the phone as her light source. However she was slow with walking due to being worried of tripping on a fallen book in the darkness.

"Err, sure. You could say that."
He answered. Theodora didn't seem to understand that Clark was trying to maintain plausible deniability, even if he wasn't doing a good job of it. She also didn't understand he was trying to be stealthy, although at this point he wasn't doing a good job of that either. The student actually scared him when she called yelled out. Had she heard something he didn't?
"Shhh!"
Clark snatched his phone back and turn it off. He stopped moving for exactly fifteen seconds, and focused at the edges of his hearing. There were in fact footsteps down the hall. It was faint, impossible to tell if it was getting closer or not. He ran through a mental map, searching for a way around.
"Alright," he whispered, "We're going to have to take the next hallway on our left, and then loop around. If you haven't adjusted to the darkness yet, it helps to put your hand on the wall and use it to guide you."

Theodora continued to follow the footsteps when suddenly a hand reached out to her and she yelled out in fright as the phone was taken away from her and she was stuck in darkness again. "Now I can't see again, was that you?" Theo called out to the darkness, fortunately. She got a response and did as the voice, who was obviously Clark said and placed her hands on the wall and began to move forward. Hoping to be closer to Clark.
"What's going on. I thought you were going to the security office?" Theodora sounded annoyed when she said that she turned to her left as Clark instructed and continued to follow him. She hoped that the two would be able to get out of the library soon, or hopefully the lights will be back on so they can see again.
And maybe find another way to look in the security office without sneaking in. However it seems to Theodora that might now happen. "Are we near the door yet?" Theodora called out to Clark quietly.

The duo made it down a couple hallways.
"I think so," Clark answered. "It should be right here."
The businessman felt along the wall for the doorway.
"Found it. I'm going in."
Upon walking in, he took stock of the room as best as he could in the darkness. He could make out the shape of a desk with a computer and a monitor, as well as a tower of filing cabinets to his right. Clark put his hand on the desk and the static charge in the air returned. The display flickered on.
"I just need to send myself the security archive and then I'll be gone."
At that point, the lights turned back on. Security would be on their way back.

Theodora kept close to Clark, getting worried about how she could trip and lose her track of him again or run into a group of security men and woman. Fortunately, her fears were slightly mellowed out when she arrived at the security room with Clark. As soon as the two entered Theodora stayed by the door while Clark went to do his own thing with the computer in the room.
"Ok, please hurry." Theodora decided to look out for anyone coming towards the security office, everything was turned back on now, a sign that the team had fixed the problem with the power of the school and are now probably heading back to the office.
"Nobody seems's to be coming yet, thank god." Theodora breathed a sigh of relief. Even though she knew that it wasn't over until she and Clark get out of the office without being caught. if Theo was caught, however, she feels like she's going to be punished severely.

Theodora took to being a lookout, that was good. It allowed Clark to focus on what he was doing. All was clear, so he did have a bit of time. Clark worked as quickly as possible, first opening his email, then finding the archives, then copying them over. It worked. Now was just the slow wait for the whole thing to finish. Clark was used to much faster internet, and couldn't help but tap his finger on the desk impatiently.
"Almost there. If you do hear footsteps, you can leave if you want. No sense for both of us to get in trouble."
As soon as the file loaded, Clark interrupted power to the machine for a second, causing it to reboot. It was a much faster way of covering his tracks then doing it manually. By now it was possible to make out the faint clack of heel on tile down the hallway. Clark spun around.
"Thank you for everything but we really should split now."

Theodora scanned the area. So far nobody was coming and she sighed in relief, however, Clark was taking an awfully long time with getting the files he so needed, causing her to mumble under her breath. Finally, he spoke and what he said made Theodora sigh in relief. "Ok, good," Theodora responded impatiently as she opened the door and walked out. But, before she did she quickly, looked back at Clark one more time.
"We'll meet again one day? When we're not in trouble by anyone here?" Theodora asked Clark. However, she quickly ran off down the hall, knowing full well that she won't get an answer with the short time she had before the security guards came back.
"Good luck finding your book, stranger."

There was enough time for a nod, although Clark wasn't sure if Theodora saw it. Truthfully, Clark had no idea if they would ever meet again, but the quick nod seemed like the right thing to do. While the student scampered off, Clark headed down a different hallway, towards the exit. It was going to take a lot of work to sort through the thousands of hours of footage he stole, but he was far too intrigued to stop now.
He hadn't even left the building before he was on his phone, making arrangements for the anonymous donation. In addition to enough money to cover the damages, he ordered several of his favorite books on magic to be shipped to the school. He couldn't help but notice the library was missing a few essentials, some of which Theodora might find interesting.
