Name: Clark Amasteros
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Occupation: High-Speed Tram Line Proprietor
Appearance:
Clark has a round face, and it's slightly smaller than average. He has pale green eyes with a hint of blue around the pupil. He's actually slightly farsighted, and will put on glasses in order to read things up close. His glasses are small and rectangular, with a thin black frame. He also wears a simple black hat on some days, depending on his mood. His hair is short, course, and a dusty black color. Clark's hairline is just now starting to recede at an unfortunately early age, and he sports a short, well trimmed beard.
Clark owns several vests that he rotates out every day. They range from charcoal black to browns to the occasional dark red, and all of them have a gold-colored trim around the edges and outlining a single left pocket. Underneath, he'll wear a white or off-white button shirt and a soft gray tie. Completing the outfit is usually a nice pair of slacks and simple shoes. He is much less meticulous about them, and has been known to wear shorts and tennis shoes during more physical activities.
Clark is rather tall, at just over six feet. There isn't a whole lot of muscle on him though, giving him a lanky appearance. He stands with perfect posture and holds his head tilted slightly up. It would be almost regal, if he didn't have a habit of keeping his hands stuffed into his pockets. When he walks, he takes long, energetic strides in order to get places as fast as possible.
(Secret)
Talents:
-Clark is charismatic, not in the likeable sense, but in an authoritative one. He projects confidence and tends to overshadow others during conversation. He's very skilled at stringing together convincing, but otherwise empty words such as scientific jargon or motivational speeches.
-(secret)
-Clark has a shrewd sense of management and logistics. He rarely wastes a second and is very quick to assess the benefits and downsides of a decision. He tends to see potential and investment where others don't, and isn't afraid of taking risks. His very organized approach has proven very useful in building and managing his tram line.
-He maintains an interest in scientific advancement. Clark diligently keeps up with all of the latest scientific discoveries and theories, picking up a basic understanding as he goes along. He could actually care less about how any of the science behind the advancements work, but considers it very important to be a part of progress. Particular things that interest him are astronomy, physics, geology, and any papers put out by Gnosis.

Personality:
During the time that Clark Amasteros is officially working, he constantly moves around. Even if it's just to pace across the room in order to work out a problem. He can be sociable to other people while on the clock, but only does so if it furthers some sort of purpose, otherwise he's dismissive of distractions. His position means that he isn't required to work constantly, but even in his off time he usually takes on some sort of project or activity that furthers one of his goals. Before, he's run petitions against competitors or spend a day looking into the uses of a particular new resource.
Despite this, he's aware his drive is not inexhaustable. He is careful to leave exactly 8 hours every week to do things "of fruitless intent," as he puts it. He typically uses this time to socialize, specifically without trying to gain some sort of deal or advantage. Clark strongly believes that it's required in order to stay sane. He thinks, anyway, that it will keep him from losing focus on what he intends to use his money for.
That goal happens to be the advancement of humanity. He's strongly utilitarian, believing he should benefit as many people as he can, regardless of what happens to a few. (Secret). While in a business sense he sees people as tools, he still genuinely cares for every passenger to use his tram line. His current ambition is to eventually build line into the jungle itself, in order to speed up deeper and deeper expeditions. It's not exactly a secret, but he doesn't make a big deal about it at the moment. There's still a long way to go before he can start pushing for it, and he expects lots of backlash from Flourish. It is notable though that he'll sometimes schedule things so that he can venture into the jungle himself. Clark seeks to understand the jungle on a personal level before he interferes with it. Of course, it helps that the resources he finds are either directly useful to his tram line or worth a lot of money to others.
On the shallow end, he tends to enjoy luxury items. Despite his lucrative job and work ethic, he blows a lot of money on clothes, food, and especially alcohol. Not only does he prefer high-end wine, but that near the end of every month or so he gets really burnt out. Truthfully, his strategy of 8 hours a week of downtime isn't nearly enough, and he doesn't spend that time in a terribly restful manner either. It's usually large parties with a variety of entertainment in a short span of time. It eventually builds up to the point that he spends a couple days almost dangerously drunk, but he always seems to pick himself back up and act like nothing was wrong.
He gets a more profound sense of happiness from actually riding his tram. It gives him a real tangible sense of accomplishment and impact to be standing on his own tram car, to know personally the tram conductors that work for him, and to hear stories from passengers. Many of his friendships started with people simply taking his tram on a regular enough basis, and he pays close attention to any feedback he can get.
The quickest way to ruin his day is to disrupt the expected plan in any way. He doesn't deal with delay very well, especially during the times he's burnt out. Often, he can recover, but it's possible to push him past an inflection point. When things are frustrating enough, he suddenly becomes irrational and angry. He won't eat or sleep, and changes his ideas on a whim. When this inevitably makes things worse, he'll lash out and blame others for things. Eventually, he recognizes the situation and forces himself to snap out of it, but it's still set him back a couple times significantly.
Magic Name: (secret)
Magic: (secret)
History:
His childhood was ultimately a positive one, he was a single child with a large family, and ended up spending a lot of his time around adults instead of other children. Early on, it could get lonely at times, but as he got older, relatives would take him on trips to historic buildings or to fancy restaurants across the city. His father, Philip Amasteros, was a banker, and made sure his son understood money and budgeting growing up. Clark had a massive allowance, but had to buy his own food. Philip wasn't strict or unforgiving about this, but it forced Clark to plan ahead and organize much more than his peers. His mother is a police officer, and wasn't around as much
During school, he was pushed toward things like accounting and refinancing, and took a job as an office building manager for five years, during which he started calculating a better tram route between one of the tram stops close to his apartment and the building that he worked. A shift in job opportunities over the past couple years had actually changed the optimum traffic pattern. (Secret). Using money he had saved, Clark purchased certain property rights after a devastating fire in one of the nearby buildings. After taking out a loan, he began building his own tram line.
