So this was it, Anais first trip into the Twilight Jungle. She heard a lot about the jungles, but of course, she never went in them until today due to her fears of what could go wrong in the jungle. However, she had enough pressure from school and her future and wanted to go on an expedition to the jungle today to clear her mind and to go on an adventure and start to learn more about it, who knows, maybe it will peak her interest in school in case she wants to study more about the jungle there. Anais looked at the door that would take her to the jungle. She looked down at her brooch and grabbed it for a minute, twirling it around before taking a deep breath and walking towards the door. She was wearing a satchel that only had a water bottle, notebook with a pencil inside it and a flashlight in case the area her and her partner would go in would turn dark.
"Ok door...You're what's keeping me from going into the jungle...If I just...Open you up. I can go in and wait for my partner to appear." Anais thought as she grabbed onto the door, and pushed it open when it opened she looked through into the jungle, amazed at it. She started looking down at her feet, which were still by the door. She closed her eyes.
And after one major step, she was in the jungle.
Anais opened her eyes in relief as she slammed the door to New Sumatra behind her before leaning on the wall to the city, waiting for Matt to walk through the door so she can enter the ruins with him. She swore she heard his name before at school but Anais didn't care that much, she just wanted to have fun in this jungle and go on a dangerous adventure as quickly as possible!
She just hoped Chrissy wouldn't find out where Ana has been. Or else he would easily tattle on her like the little snitch he is.

Matt gulped. The door stood right in front of him, looming over him as if trying to warn him off. He stared right back at it. Was it actually daring him to enter?
He didn’t want to enter.
He was finally at the entrance to the jungle, but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to be. It...wasn’t a good feeling. He would have been long gone by now if it weren’t for the fact that his schoolmate would be the one he was exploring with - he sure as hell was not going to risk his life in the jungle’s ruins alone, even if you tried to pay him a million dollars to. The monsters were a lot stronger than humans from what he’d heard, and a single mistake would be more than enough to end the both of them in one go. Even Matt’s music wasn’t enough to calm his nerves - his optimism would clearly be unhelpful here. So, what could he do to calm down a little? Check and re-check his rucksack for everything he’d need. It calmed him to know that he was still somewhat in control. Medical supplies, food and drink provisions, mobile battery bank... looking at his own preparedness made him feel better.
Matt would’ve preferred exploring the ruins in bigger groups, to be honest, but there was no helping it. From what Matt knew, exploring the ruins seemed to be a foolish action for many (Matt was amongst this camp of naysayers, but he had somehow convinced himself to give it a try anyway) while exploring the wastelands seemed to be safer - even if you were meant to die there after a week, at least you wouldn’t die a violent death! Then again, maybe a violent death was better than one where you knew your time was running out but couldn’t do a damn thing about it… something Matt had very nearly experienced the week before in the wasteland...
“No… no more thinking. Shut your thoughts away, Matt. Do what you always do.” Whispering to himself and holding his hand to his chest, Matt pushed the door open and stepped through, trying to play it cool and walk confidently. Time to meet his new best friend.

Expedition of day 83 The decent into the dungeon is steep and precarious. The gray stones of the stairs are chipped, cracked, and broken showing their age. Nature has reclaimed much of the structure, with tree roots slicing through the stairs and other plants sprouting up through the cracks. Despite the stones only being gray, the whole area is quite colorful, even if it's difficult to appreciate plants that could make any explorer trip and tumble to their death. The stairs down twist and turn in odd directions, quickly making it difficult to tell which way is north. The dungeon itself is pitch black, save for any light the explorers have. Even the darkness of Twilight Jungle doesn't compare to the absolute darkness of the jungle. There are crumbled stone slabs, covered in foliage, the remains built in such a way that they could have easily been the remains of a heavy stone door. A feeling of disorientation passes over the explorers as they pass through the gap in the foliage and enter the dungeon proper. The walls are covered with flowers and fruits, the paths bisected by large tree roots leaving large cracks in the stone. There are signs of murals carved into the walls, but they're too faded and covered with foliage to make anything out. As the explorers move, the only things that can be heard are the sounds of their footsteps and the distant sound of stone grinding on stone. --- The party has 70 energy No one is injured You can go to the left, further into the dungeon. You can go to the right, further into the dungeon.

Anais looked at the tree's some more, she was going to walk to one that was nearby, however, the door soon opened and she was relieved to see that it was Matt, who was going to go with her to the ruins. She moved away from the door, almost hitting her in the face as she walked beside Matt. "Hi, you must be my partner I presume?" Anais held out her hand for Matt to shake. "I'm Anais Mayfield. You might have heard from me from school as that lazy girl who might be interested in science or hangs out by herself." Anais played with her brooch for a bit before looking at the jungle.
"We should get going, we don't have a moment to lose in this mysterious jungle." Anais pointed her finger upwards before walking through the jungle. Eventually coming to the stairs leading down to the dungeon, although they look very hard to move down from. Anais would definitely risk it if it means getting into the dungeon sooner and so she walked down the stairs. "Careful with the steps. They look...Easy to fall down from." Anais warned Matt, eventually coming across the foliage and the gap that would let her into the dungeon, which she climbed through and jumped into the dungeon...
Before quickly realising it was dark. She took out her flashlight from her satchel and switched it on before moving forward, now having a source of light. "Stay close to me. Unless you have a light source as well?" Anais asked Matt before continuing to walk down at the dungeon, noticing the murals that Ana couldn't make out, hopefully, they were nothing too serious. "So, we go to the same school correct?" Anais asked Matt before suddenly stopping. Having come across two paths, one on the left and one on the right.
Anais shined her flashlight on the left path. "I'm voting that we should take this path further down the dungeon." Anais moved her head back.
"You?" She asked the boy.

A girl shifted away from the door the moment it opened, her sky blue irises shining brighter as her eyes widened slightly in surprise. Her long hair seemed to follow her movements, almost as if blowing in an imaginary wind. Matt's own brown locks suddenly seemed a lot less impressive. Surprisingly enough, though, the girl seemed like the guy she was looking at was the last thing on her mind. Perhaps that was to be expected, considering most people who explored had a screw or two loose or simply didn't care about much - Matt was probably the former.
A businesslike greeting affirmed Matt's suspicions of the girl's lack of interest in him, followed by a similarly detached yet respectful hand extended to him. He blinked at the stifling level of formality shown to him before hesitantly taking it, his back straightening and head bowing out of pure instinct (something that was beaten into him from childhood thanks to affluent parents.) Fingers absentmindedly fiddling with a mysterious-looking, ruby-colored brooch as she introduced herself, the girl looked at the maze of twisted orange leaves.
The buzz of insects suddenly became just as obvious as the humid heat. This was definitely leaps and bounds from the parching aridity of the wastelands, and yet just as easy to get lost in... Matt shook his head. He shouldn't start worrying again - it wouldn't help either of them. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Mayfield. I'm Matt, by the way." He gave an exaggerated bow and a cheeky grin - two things that had always worked well to get him a smile or two in return, sometimes a chuckle if he was lucky.
"We should get going, we don't have a moment to lose in this mysterious jungle." The girl piped up suddenly before giving him the Irish treatment and walking off without another word. This girl sure was quirky. Matt followed behind as they walked in silence... silence... silence. Something Matt had not been privileged to in a very long time.
Finally, they were in. Matt clicked on the flashlight hooked to his jeans while Anais turned on her own. She told him to be careful with the steps as she proceeded on in front of him, disappearing into a gap in the foliage and apparently also into darkness. Talk about guts!
"So, we go to the same school correct?" Little Miss Serious finally decided to open up a topic for conversation before halting in her tracks. Matt did the same, cutting his own answer (that was going to be a 'yes') off without voicing it. What a tragic waste of words... Shining her flashlight to indicate her preferred option for the splitting path, the girl said she wanted to go the way she'd indicated before turning to him with the same unfeeling eyes, genuinely asking for his opinion for the first time since meeting him.
"Sure. Sounds good to me." He shrugged, feeling awkward and finding himself unable to smile like he always did. This girl sure was strange... she didn't work like anyone else at school - her words, actions and even looks were worlds apart from what he'd gotten used to from socializing with his peers.
This was certainly going to be more fun than he'd thought.

Still burning torches line the walls, each tightly wound hallway managing to look exactly like the last. The hallway becomes wider, though it doesn't look like it lead to a room or that this hallway was supposed to be wider. Gears and other mechanisms litter the ground, all of them made out of metal. They all look primitive, and several of them have rusted over. Whatever they were supposed to do is clearly beyond their ability at this point, but the people studying the ruins might be able to make some sense of it all.

"Uhh yes, i'm thinking of taking classes related to science some time soon. My teacher suggested I should lean on that." Anais revealed, however she herself looked uncertain. "But, I don't know. I don't think I deserve those classes." Anais then noticed the hallway changing in a minor way but she ignored that and decided to move to the right, looking down at her flashlight to make sure she doesn't run out of battery's.
"We should keep to the right, we might be able to find something if we do." Anais instructed to Matt, she then went back to the subject on school. "By the way which classes do you like? Since I told you what mine were." She asked Matt.

Matt walked. And walked some more. And walked.
Nothing was changing.
Suddenly, Miss Serious piped up once more - was she feeling just as awkward as Matt was? If she was, she sure did a good job of hiding it with that constant look of disinterest. She seemed unsure as she spoke, putting in pauses where they wouldn't normally be and saying 'uhh' from time to time. Matt simply nodded; the disinterest sure was contagious.
"I see." He offered a half-hearted mumble before letting her continue.
"What makes you say that, Miss Mayfield?" He asked, somehow finding that he too sounded more formal than usual. Wow, this girl sure brought out new sides of him he didn't know existed... "If what you've told me is correct, you seem to possess a certain vigor for scientific academics, but for some reason just can't bring yourself to properly pursue this interest. How exactly would that make you unworthy of taking classes for it to further your knowledge?"
Nearer to the end of the conversation, the room opened up to reveal huge gears and all sorts of other strange devices in the walls and ground. Matt was, needless to say, astounded. A low moan of excitement escaped his mouth, eyes suddenly becoming X-ray scanners and surveying the room almost lustfully. This was a huge discovery! Ground-breaking, even! Whipping out his phone, he immediately began taking a video of the place and described his journey as if he were some kind of special scientist like the ones that had once explored the jungle.
"Expedition N06. We've been traveling down these ruined halls for nearly an hour now. The ancient stone shows no signs of deteriorated condition, thankfully, but we were certain that nothing of note was to be found until now... Behold, non-believers! Feast thine eyes on this magnificent human discovery!" Matt pointed the phone at the gears and gizmos in a triumphant manner, his eerily ecstatic smile shining brighter than even the torches lining the walls. He picked up a small piece of mechanism that had seemingly fallen loose from somewhere and put it into his pocket, saving it to sell to some scientist later. Just how much could this be worth...? The mere thought of it exhilarated him! A few shots of the gears with his camera and he was satisfied, but still reeling from the disbelief and strong sense of awe. "We should keep to the right, we might be able to find something if we do." The girl said (and led) and Matt was more than happy to let her lead - she seemed to know what she was doing.
"Sure," Matt followed behind and snapped himself out of delusions of being the richest man in New Sumatra. "Classes that I like?" Matt echoed, noticing that the girl seemed to be warming up to him. Hey, talking was always a good sign in friendships, right? "Well... I'm pretty good with a guitar, and I'd like to say that my dance moves aren't cringy." He chuckled, demonstrating a little backflip (complete with finishing pose) to hopefully prove his point. Talking about himself was always easy - for some reason girls found it charming most of the time (it was also something he was actually comfortable discussing) "If I had to pick a subject I love the most, though... probably Drama. I'm a sucker for romantic plays, especially. Then again, I guess I've made a movie or two. Not that you'd ever find them -- okay, maybe if you went to the film club you might find a clip or two with me playing the main love interest, but don't tell anyone I told you, okay?" He winked mischievously. "The film club is already crowded enough as it is - they don't need a crowd of fangirls invading each week to watch me in that one film." He chuckled, secretly hoping the girl realized that he was poking fun at himself and not just bragging. "Jokes aside, though, my favorite subjects really are Music, Dance and Drama. If I can, I'd love to get a career in the entertainment business..." He scratched the back of his neck shyly.

Still burning torches line the walls, each tightly wound hallway managing to look exactly like the last. Coating some of the walls and floor is a strange substance that is somehow simultaneously powedery, slimey, and sticky. It's dim, mostly white, but seems to occasionally shimmer strange colors. It likely came from a monster, but it's nowhere to be seen and can be easily collected for further examination later.

"I don't know, it's just that I often act, well lazy when I'm at class. I think someone more competent than me should have my position in those classes, I don't think i'll be worth it." Anais revealed sighing as she continued to walk forward down the path she was going down, all the while listening to Matt's ramblings of his movies that he makes in the film club. "Don't worry, I don't want to join. I'm not a big fan of movies actually, mostly because I have an annoying family member who's an actress that won't shut up about it," Anais said as she continued walking. eventually stopping.
She liked Matt's little move that he did. "Wow, there certainly not cringy." Anais agreed. However in her mind, what Matt just did was a little cringe inducing.
"Hang on." Anais bent down to look at the strange liquid around the area, she took out her satchel and drank all the water she had in a bottle before putting said liquid into the bottle by moving it with her flashlight. Once she did, she closed the bottle with her lid and threw it in her satchel and looked back at Matt. "I'll examine that later when we get back to the city. It will at least give me something to do tonight then be annoyed by my younger brother." Anais turned forward and continued to walk down the path.
"My mother is the actress, by the way. A struggling one since you know the reactions people have with movies these days." Anais shrugged. "I'm surprised that the film club is overcrowded. I thought movies were...Not popular that much?" Anais began to walk slower as she turned right again. "We should be careful. We might be facing something soon due to the liquid we found just now," Anais advised Matt as she prepared in case something happened.

Matt listened quietly to the girl's explanation, nodding and looking at her to show he cared. "I can't really say about how you act in class, but does it really matter? As long as you do the work set for you to a decent standard, it's fine, isn't it? Especially if you love science." His locks fell to the side as he tilted his head, confused by the girl's words. If she really wanted to do it, what was stopping her? Wasn't she just fine to keep living as she was? People were weird sometimes.
After Matt's little speech, the girl told him to wait and crouched down to do something. Taking the chance to make another video, Matt took out his phone and recorded the torches: "We have made yet another discovery - in this torch-lined hall, a strange black slimy yet powdery and sticky substance coating some of the walls and floor. We feel a little bit worried, but we'll make sure to return to the surface no matter what! Whether that means we run or fight, we will come back!" He whispered, slightly afraid that something may hear him.
Matt listened to her words with only half-interest now, mainly because he was always keeping one eye on their backs and the other on their fronts to look out for creatures. It didn't help that the song playing in his ear was now one from a horror cartoon he'd watched before...
The creeps were starting to settle in and the girl telling him that they might face something soon didn't help. He'd have to stay on guard.

Still burning torches line the walls, each tightly wound hallway managing to look exactly like the last. It started with an odd smell, best described as an awkward mix of finely roasted meat and sulfur. As the explorers got closer to the source, they'd start to feel dizzy and nauseous, until it was difficult to see and move at all. At that moment, the monster causing the sensation decided to strike. It wasn't strong enough to do too much damage, but it was large enough to drag people around, potentially splitting up the party. --- Splitting monster was not bypassed. Anais didn't know what to say about Matt's encouragement. "I guess. But I just...Feel like i'm not going to, well enjoy those classes that much unlike the other students that will join me in those classes." Anais sighed. "I just don't know." Anais continued to walk until she started to feel sick and dizzy. "Ugh. What's wrong with this place?" Anais sounded annoyed as she slowly turned but to the effects of the hall, she couldn't see Matt properly, nor can she see him at all due to him being split from Anais.
"Matt, why have you suddenly go quietly?" Anais aimed her flashlight around, but finally noticed that Matt had vanished, causing her quiet reaction to turn into a more louder one. She swing her flashlight around, trying to find Matt. "Matt, Matt!?" Anais called out, turning to the left. She decided that she might find Matt further in the dungeon and so started to run down it despite her sudden effects.
"Calm down Anais, i'm sure he'll be fine and not blob food judging by the weird liquid I found earlier...I hope." Anais thought as she kept running down the hall, determined to find her new friend.

The room is pitch black, even any light that the explorers brought along appears to have no effect against the darkness. Anais kept going forward despite her health. But she yelped when her flashlight quickly shut off, along with any other light source in the room. "Uh oh. I need to tread my steps carefully." Anais thought as she continued walking forward. She was planning to turn Left, but in the end, she accidentally chose to go right.
She kept walking, expecting something to appear any minute. She just hopes its Matt. She brought him into this situation, so the best she can do is to get him out before he get's chewed up by...Anything in this place.
