It's been a day since Theodora went to the Twilight Jungle with Etude and Tristan and ever since then she never got the thought out of her head that the two didn't escape and are still trapped in the dungeon the trio went in. However she thought that they could have escaped since they seemed to have experience in those kinds of things before just like Theodora, for now, she was going to study at the school's library.
When Theodora got to the library she noticed how quiet it was. Perfect, she could look for books quicker without having to run into people, she walked towards a shelf of books that she was familiar with and began searching for books that she could read, hopefully it can take her mind off from the dungeon yesterday and make her forgot about her failure at trying to defeat the dog like beast she encountered and not being able to find her new friends.
"Hmm, let's see, which book will interest me today?" Theo thought as she began her search.

Clark Amasteros needed a book. Specifically, he was looking for an old book he had read as a child, about some old rhymes from an age past. It was the kind of book that seemed completely made up, with just enough effort to entertain children for a few minutes at a time. Clark would have never even remembered the book, if he hadn't seen something the last time he was at the ruins. He was thinking of the floating islands and the people with wings. He could have sworn there were pictures in this book that matched the style of the mural.
The problem with that being the first place he knew were to look was the school. That meant he had to convince the school to let a grown man browse their shelves for nursery rhymes. There was nothing illegal about that, but it certainly looked suspicious. It took a couple greased palms and fervent assurances, but he eventually made it in. Thankfully, it wasn't busy in the library. There were only a couple students about, whom Clark avoided.
Thinking he was in the clear, the businessman did not see Theodora until it was too late. He had already walked into the row of bookshelves. It was unavoidable now that the student would noticed a completely random stranger in the school's library. There was nothing to do except try to dispel the awkwardness.
"Greetings! I'm Clark Amasteros. Don't mind me, I've been given special permission to look for a specific book."

Theodora kept looking for books, mostly on magic. She decided to read some books on magic instead of just looking for a random book that will interest her. As she looked around the shelves she was familiar with in the library, she noticed a darkly dusted looking book on the top of a shelf in front of her. "Looks darkly, but interesting." Theodora thought as she grabbed a nearby stool and reached for the book, however, she was too small to even reach the book.
She could of tried to shrink herself and climb up towards the shelf, but that would of caused so much problems. Curse her height.
No, her height is not going to be an obstacle again, especially when getting a simple book such as the dark looking one above her. Theodora tried her best to reach for the book, the tip of her fingers barely touching it. She tried to push it down so she can quickly grab it, as she pushed it towards the edge she was unaware of Clark until he introduced himself to Theodora.
"Huh!?" Theodora quickly broke from her concentration and noticed Clark. She turned back towards the shelf and saw that the book had now fallen from the edge and towards Clark. She called out to the stranger. "Lookout, book!" Theodora warned to Clark as she jumped off towards the stool and walked towards Clark.

The student seemed to be struggling, and Clark considered simply getting the book for her. He was about to reach for it when she alerted him. Clark caught the book and handed it to her, glancing at the cover while he did so. It didn't have a title on the front, like how some publishers dress up old classics. The businessman wracked his memory. Did his book have a title on the cover? What color even was it? The details were just at the fringes of his memory, barely out of reach.
"Thank you for warning me. I hate to be a bother, but may I ask what you're reading?"
His voice was polite enough, but carried an almost imperceptible edge to it. He was a bit self-aware and in a hurry, but was trying his best to hide it. There may have been more seriousness to his request then would be expected. The student had no way of knowing how valuable her answer could be. Clark tried to cover it up further with the trace of a friendly smile. The chances were slim that this girl picked out the exact book he was looking for, but she walked out of the library with it he might never see it again. It was best to go through every possibility. He thought about quickly bribing the student with a couple dollars, but decided that would only be suspicious.

Theodora made it to Clark who thankfully managed to catch the book. "Thank you for catching the book i'm interested in." She then looked at the front cover, however there wasn't one. It was just a black coloured book. Strange, did the title fall off or was washed away accidentally. Theodora didn't know, however since it was on the shelf that had magical books she guessed that it had something to do with magic.
"I'm not sure myself actually. However since it was found on a shelf that has books on magic, it's most likely a book about some type of magic." Theo looked down at the book again before looking back up at Clark and shrugged. "Maybe it's a book on dark magic or something judging by the dark looking cover." Theodora then moved her hands towards Clark.
"So, is it fine if I read it please?" Theo asked politely to the stranger. Although she looked a bit worried that he was going to take off with it since after all, Theodora barely knew the guy, he could be some book thief.

"Of course."
Clark crouched down to hand the book out to her. He wanted to double-check it first, but being polite took priority. The good news was that this was probably the wrong section anyway. As far as he could remember, the book with wings didn't ever directly mention magic. What section would the book be in anyway?
Even after Theodora took the book, he remained crouched until after he posed a question.
"To continue being a bother, for which I apologize, I could use some help. I'm sure you can imagine it's been more than a few years since I've been here. Even if I could remember, things change. Do you know what all the different sections are?"
This might not help him either. All he really knew was that the book rhymed. Still, if there was a section for old myths or picture books then it gave him a starting point. He was pretty sure there would be plenty of categories to rule out, as well.

Theo placed the book under her arm as she looked back at the man, happy to help him despite him being a stranger. But then again it was a simple question which Theodora would happily tell the man the answer too despite him being in a school library. "Oh, you want to know what sections they are in this library?" Theodora turned and pointed to behind her.
"Well at the other side of the library there are sections that deal with regular history, stories and all the other magical nonrelated things." She told Clark before pointing to the shelf beside her. "While this half of the library has books related to magic, history about magic and stories and such." She revealed, however, this talk about sections made her curious about Clark's motives.
Like why was he even here? "Sorry if this is rather rude but." Theodora twiddled her thumbs before asking Clark the question rather politely.
"What are you looking for. Is it only found in this library?" She asked curiously.

"Thank you."
Well that wasn't helpful. The book could still be anywhere then. As annoyed as he was, he didn't let it show. Clark upheld the importance of politeness, especially when Theodora was being nice in return.
"Well it might be found other places, but I know it's here specifically. I'm looking for a book from my childhood. It's one of those inane rhyme books, but I'm interested because of something I saw..."
He paused slightly for dramatic effect. It was showy and unnecessary, but how many times do you get to tell people this?
"Deep in the twilight ruins. The book has a picture done in a mosaic style of people with wings around floating islands. While it doesn't directly talk about magic, it might be fantastical enough to still be in the magic section. Unfortunately, I just don't remember enough about it."
Now it was fine to let a little annoyance creep into the end of his voice. It should be clear that was frustrated with his own troubles, and not an insult toward Theodora. He hoped the student would assist him further. Perhaps she had more insight toward the groupings, or maybe had even seen the book before. At the very least, she would know if she walked out with the very book he wanted. Clark was hesitant to get his hopes up.

Theodora noticed the little annoyance the way Clark spoke. He seemed like he really wanted this fantasy book, Theo feels for him since she had numerous incidents where she tried to remembered a book, show or movie but doesn't have enough details to find it. "Well let's hope it's in the fictional fantasy section nearby otherwise it will be harder to look for it with the details we have. it'll be like finding a needle in a haystack." Theodora warned about searching the jungle for a book.
As Theodora left the aisle and headed towards the magic fantasy section where hopefully Clark's book was, she thought about how much magic influenced library's such as this one, how there now split with one half of the library having regular books while the other has books related to magic. Fantasy story's applied as well as most if not all of them could be found in the magic halve in the library, hence why there's a fantasy aisle nearby instead of the other side of the library.
Theodora soon arrived at the aisle, as she looked around. She quickly looked back at Clark. "Know anymore details about the book?" She asked Clark.

Good, a magic fantasy sounded right at least. This wasn't as hopeless as Clark feared. He followed her to the correct aisle, and began scanning the rows. He was sure that as soon as he saw the book he'd remember it. When Theodora pressed him for more details, he could almost picture the cover.
"It looked... exactly like that book there, actually."
Clark grabbed it. It was thin, with a faded violet hardcover. The corners were heavily worn to the point that the thick paperboard was starting to separate. Embossed in dark blue cursive was the title "Songs of Water."
"Thank you. Thank you! This is exactly what I was..."
The businessman had quickly opened the book and flipped through the pages, only to find that most of them were torn out.
"Oh. Now that's strange."
He was crushed, but only for a second. Whatever importance he imagined for the book, it was just confirmed. He was definitely on the track for something. Clark just needed to figure out what the next step would be.

"Wait, what?" Theodora turned to the book that Clark pointed out. She watched him grab and examine the book. It seemed to be the right one, even Theodora was impressed that they managed to find the book, she thought it would have taken a lot longer to find. At least Clark could go back to his apartment with his goal complete, like what Theodora did with the book she has.
Unfortunately, it wasn't over here.
Clark looked sad for some reason as Theodora looked back at him. "What's wrong. Is it the wrong book?" Theodora asked, unaware that the pages in the book were missing yet.

Clark turned the book around and thumbed through the pages for Theodora's benefit. There were large chunks of missing pages, indicated only by the jagged edges of paper running through the center of the book.
"It's the right book alright, otherwise there wouldn't be any need to do this. It's barbaric, actually. There had to have been a better way to accomplish whatever they wanted without such reckless damage. Honestly the possibility that some of the knowledge was destroyed is more upsetting than the fact that I don't have it. At least then somebody could find it eventually."
The businessman paused for a moment.
"Do you think there might be security cameras in the library?"

Theodora felt bad for Clark when he showed her the ripped book. She wondered who would do such a thing in this library, surely if the person did any damages to any of these books they would have been caught and punished by the librarian here...Or maybe security when Clark mentioned if there were any security cameras around.
"Uhh." Theodora looked upwards and saw a camera nearby, confirming that they are cameras around the library. She looked back at Clark. "Yeah, there appear to be cameras around here. However, i'm not sure if were allowed to look at them." Theodora looked unsure, and giving that Clark doesn't go to this school the teachers would definitely not allow a stranger to look at the cameras in fear that he could tamper with it or destroy the cameras.
"We can go ask anyway?" Theodora began to walk away from the shelves and towards the front counter of the Library, where the Librarian was.

The kid was right. He was already pushing the limit just by being here, so there wasn't any way someone would let him see the tapes.
"I suppose, but I don't expect much of it," Clark responded.
His voice didn't fit the despondency of the words. It was tense, perhaps excited. The thought did occur to Clark to give up, but it was quickly pushed aside. There were always options available, just not always the perfectly legal ones.
There was a taste of metal in the air as an electric charge built up. It only lasted a second before the light fixture above them blew out. The fuse tripped, shutting down power to this section of the school. In the dark, the business man soundlessly left the library. In the long run, this probably was a pretty bad option, but the more he hesitated the worse it would get. Clark was determined not to leave empty handed.

Theodora felt bad for the man. He seemed very nice but bad things keep happening to him and he must be frustrated despite his happy look. "So, umm. What's going t---However Theodora was interrupted when the lights suddenly went off from the library, causing her to gasp. It didn't help the fact that Clark was not saying anything for some reason. The fear made Theo slightly shrink for a minute before calming down and going back to normal size.
"Uhh...Mister?" Theodora called out, waiting for Clark to respond in the darkness, unaware that he was leaving the library. Theodora got angry at how quiet and dark the library was now.
"If you're trying to scare me then please drop the act!" Theodora quietly called out.
