The land continues to be featureless, sand an rock as far as the eye can see. Sometimes, that sand hides dangers underneath it. Occasionally, there are rocks covered by the sand, and this time there is a small group of rocks positioned just far enough apart for someone's foot to get stuck in. Even if it won't be too hard to free their foot if it gets stuck, having their foot get unexpectedly stuck somewhere could easily result in a twisted ankle.

The land continues to be featureless, sand an rock as far as the eye can see. The sand is still easy to sink into, and it can be difficult to notice when it's normal sinking or when the explorers are actually falling. The sand is covering a lot of large holes over the area, held together by rocks so it doesn't fall into the hole itself. If the explorers were to step on them, they'd find themselves falling a very long distance into a cave.

Under some of the tall plateaus, those similar to the one New Sumatra itself is on, are some cave networks. Exploring them gives explorers a break from the sun and heat, even if they are a bit dark. This cave winds on for awhile, and the explorers eventually come across a large boulder blocking their path. It's perfectly possible to move, or even break, but it'll be difficult to do so.

The conversation was getting interesting before the swerve interrupted it. Apparently he wasn't the only one to wonder about the intent of the builders. He would have liked to probe the topic further, but not wrecking the car took priority.
When Matt sped up, Clark added to Ezra's concern.
"Not to mention more holes. I've read reports that some of the rock gets pretty thin over the cave systems beneath. We should be able to hear the rock fracturing if we get close."
It was safer to go slower, but Clark was starting to feel the draining effects of the wasteland. He was afraid that they wouldn't find whatever the mysterious patron was looking for. It had to be soon, or they would have to turn back.
"Those caves over there," the businessman pointed at the base of one of the plateaus. "If something this important hasn't been spotted yet, it's probably hidden in the caves."
He took the letter out of his pocket and scanned over the specific wording. There was no mention of failure, so Clark wasn't sure what the consequences would be for it. He couldn't think of much that a random stranger could really do to him, but the kind of person who sends anonymous letters isn't exactly a random stranger. He glanced around the buggy. Even after they get back to New Sumatra, had he just put everyone in a different kind of danger?

"Maybe it's to keep away from something big...Outside the city that is." Anais guessed quickly to Ezra as she waited to see how Matt would avoid these holes in the buggy. Fortunately they did and Ana sighed in relief as the group entered the cave and soon came across a very large boulder, if they wanted to move it then it's going to take the group great effort to do so. "Well were obviously not going to ram into it, or else we'll have to walk all the way back to the city, and there's no way in hell we could survive those trip to the holes again without a vehicle like this." Anais threw a plan like that out of the window if the group were thinking about doing that.
"Maybe there's something behind here?" Anais said to Clark before looking back at the boulder, wanting to help in anyway she can. She looked back at the three. "Maybe we should get out and push it? I'm all for it." Anais offered.

The more Ezra spent time here, the more he was coming to realize the wasteland had two favorite tricks; the slow soul-sucking whatever it was that was in the air or ground or somewhere, and rocks. Rocks in all kinds of forms; sand that pulled one down, caves that fell in or twisted in circles, rocks sticking up out of the sand to trip feet or roll cars, both of which would then be pulled down by more sand. All this was was one, giant rock in the middle of the road. Wasn’t even any deep sand or cave ins. Just one oversized hunk of stone. The wasteland was getting desperate if it thought this could stop them. Ezra kicked open his door and stepped out, opening the front of his bag as he paced towards the boulder. Ezra’s bag was large and spacious - or, the core of it had been, before he’d taken a couple of afternoons and his own intentions too it. Several pockets had been added via needle and thread to both its outside and inside, all padded to various degrees. The ones on the outside were made of tough but relatively thin material, held closed by latches that were easy to undo and placed in easy to reach locations for the sake of speed. The ones on the inside, on the other hand, were made with thick cloth and laced with even thicker padding, held closed with zippers that ran the entire length of their square tops, and were stiffly and carefully set next to one another to keep them or anything inside them from being jostled around in the bag. It was a pain to get his hands on the needed materials and a pain to set up, but it was necessary. He wasn’t carrying around pencils or nicknacks or trash he couldn’t find a bin for in them; they were built for litteral bombs. Two of which he retrieved now. The small packet, intricately wrapped in black cloth, was pushed between the rock and the floor at the base of the boulder. After a moment’s consideration, Ezra pulled out the second and placed it beside. Rather than returning back into the car, he suggested, “Cover your ears.” in passing and carried on to crouch behind a large-ish outcropping of rock a short ways back. A moment later, an explosion rocked the small tunnel. Bright light was accompanied with a deafening bang and a shake Ezra assured himself was fine, he’d made sure to factor in the structure of the cavern when placing the explosives. When the dust settled, the packages were expectedly gone, replaced with a pothole large enough to warrant several angry complaints to the local government and the boulder, now a cracked and fallen version of its former self. ---- Move: left, left, left Action: Strike, room 2

Under some of the tall plateaus, those similar to the one New Sumatra itself is on, are some cave networks. Exploring them gives explorers a break from the sun and heat, even if they are a bit dark. The cave is a little shiny, but it quickly becomes clear that it's also very slick, due to the perfectly smooth rooks that make up the cave. One wrong step could send the explorers down a labyrinth of sloped, slick structures, not that much unlike a slide. --- Splitting terrain feature was not bypassed. The party is split.
