"It's a new day, you should feel happy and special." Theodora quipped to herself as she got out of her bed in her dark room after looking at the roof for the entire night.
It was early, so early in fact that the sun was only now starting to rise, and for Theodora it was the perfect time to go jogging through the halls of the apartment building. She was a light runner so she won't disturb anyone's sleep, especially her parents who would freak out if they see their daughter jogging around by herself through the apartment building at this time of morning, but Theodora knew that they wouldn't wake up at this time. Once she got her shoes on, Theodora quietly sneaked out through the door and began jogging across the hall.
She still felt a little tired for waking up early, but her newfound energy is slowly making her less tired as she continued to jog past through numerous doors to apartments, thinking about how jogging might make her explorations more easy for her since she might one day outrun her enemies if she keeps up all this jogging. It was also the only peaceful hour Theodora has these days before going to school and being watched by her parents when she comes back from school, there was also explorations that she sometimes goes on which puts her life at risk at almost every day now.
But she enjoyed it.
And nobody was going to stop her.
Theodora briefly stopped to look out a window she almost jogged past. She looked up to see the rising sun from afar, smiling a bit. "What a beautiful planet the sun is sometimes." She admired the sun, reminding her of a card from one of her games that she plays by herself. She quickly looked away, because the sun was actually starting to hurt her eyes. No wonder she has to wear glasses sometimes.

Aphaerla stopped bothering to keep some kind of sleep schedule long ago. Her only real responsibility was school, but people stopped caring whether or not she even showed up long ago. It was obvious what she was going to do already, so for the most part her classes focused on rounding out the knowledge she should have learned when she was younger, but had trouble with. Mostly reading and math since those were considered the most important things. If she didn't show up, it wasn't the end of the world. It's not like she needed those things to go stab monsters in the jungle.
Thus, she slept whenever she wanted, ate whenever she wanted, and did whatever she wanted. Aphaerla was never good with responsibility or thinking about other people, so they weren't major factors in her decisions. It's not that she didn't care about people, it's that she wasn't very good at thinking about multiple things at once and wasn't very good at understanding perspectives other than her own. What she was currently feeling was what she understood best, so to her it followed logically that everyone would be feeling about the same way, if she could even hold the thread of thought long enough to consider what they might be feeling in the first place. And right now she was hungry because she just woke up. That meant it was time for breakfast, and the only way to get to breakfast was to go to the cafeteria, and the only way to get there was to go through the halls.
For Aphaerla, there was only one way to travel: top speed. It got her places the fastest so that she could do the most things. That she might make things inconvenient for other people, or that her loud footsteps and the bright light she emitted might annoy people didn't even register. So, she threw on some jean shorts and a tank top, put on her boots, threw open the door loudly, and bolted down the hallway as fast as she could. Her mind was currently so focused on delicious eggs and sausage that she didn't even notice there was another person in the hall. There were never any people around at this hour, so there was no reason to expect her either.
Thus, Aphaerla didn't slow down and didn't make any effort to try to dodge this person. She continued running as fast as she could towards the person, on a path that would make her collide with the person.

After finishing looking out the window, Theodora turned her back towards the incoming blur, she was starting to get hungry so maybe she should go down to the cafeteria now before everyone else in this building does first. This was also one of Theodora's other favourite things to do in the mornings, get to the cafeteria early so she can get all the good food first. Her stomach was rumbling as she began to move forward. "Well time to get some food in me before school. Hopefully, mom and dad haven't noticed i'm gone yet." Theodora thought as she took one step forward.
Before falling face first onto the ground upon getting hit by the fast figure. "AHH!" Theodora screamed, no doubt waking up any residents nearby as she landed on the ground. Her pigtails almost opening to reveal her regular hair length as she grabbed them to make sure that her hair was fine. After checking her hair, Theodora quickly stood up, looking angry as she quickly looked around the hallway.
"Who's there?" Theodora cursed at whoever bumped into her...Hard. She didn't want to be loud again like she was a few seconds ago.

The unexpected impact made Aphaerla lose her balance and go flying. She wasn't quite fast enough to rotate and land on her feet, so she face planted into the ground. It left her dazed for a moment, making her lay on the ground motionless until her head stopped spinning. She slowly rose to her knees, and wiped away the blood trickling down her nose away.
"What was that?"
As she stood up, she turned around to see what suddenly jumped out and made her trip. She thought the hallways was completely empty, so seeing another person there came as a surprise. Enough of one that she had to blink a few times to make sure she was seeing things correctly. Wouldn't a person be hard to miss? Where did she even come from? Aphaerla rubbed her head, both to soothe the pain of running face first into the ground and to figure out what was even going on. She had no idea what to say in this kind of situation.
"Uh, sorry I guess."
With that, she turned and started walking back down the hall, being careful to step over the small bit of blood she left on the floor. Still walking for now until she stopped seeing stars.

"Uhh." Theodora looked down at the girl before offering her hand so she can help her lift her up. "Need a little help there?" She asked politely. However, the girl stood up and quickly left after apologising. However, Theo wasn't sure the girl was safe while looking dizzy and so she wanted to make sure she would be ok, Theodora started to follow the girl.
"Are you ok, you look a bit dizzy." Theodora said, following the girl beside her. She was also going the same way as her anyway. "You can stop if you like?" Theodora began to jog.

There was no need for Aphaerla to take the offered hand. She was strong and didn't need help from anyone, especially not for something as easy as getting up. As evidenced by the fact that she was able to get up on her own just fine, with only a little bit of swaying. She also didn't slow down when the girl tried to catch up. The girl didn't seem to be having that much trouble from what Aphaerla could see.
"I think so," she nodded confidently. "But I mean, you probably shouldn't have even been in the hall in the first place. People normally see me coming from a mile away."
Aphaerla rapidly changed the colors of the lights covering her body to make a point. They weren't that much brighter than the lights in the building, but it's not like she ran into people that often. It obviously meant that her efforts to make herself more noticeable so she could move faster were working and this person was just blind or slow to react. Then she blinked and titled her head.
"Why would I slow down? I can practically smell the sausages from here!"

"I'm just saying some people would have trouble running after a collision like what just happened between you and me." Theodora pointed out, trying to keep up with the girl. "Also I jog across these halls every morning. I just had my back turned away and reacted too late." Theodora should work on her reaction times, for if she was slow to react to the enemy in the twilight jungle and one day at the wasteland, it would be too late and she would be injured, or worse.
Then the smell of sausages filled her nose and she looked happy. "Ohh there serving those this morning." She turned towards the girl and smirked. "Race you to the kitchen who ever you are!" She proceeded to jog forward towards the cafeteria, hoping to get there first before the glowing girl. She smirked as she continued jogging.

Aphaerla frowned. This other girl got up just fine despite the collision, but she was acting like it was this weird thing that Aphaerla was able to get up too. They did the same thing, so why was it so surprising that she was able to get up fine? It sounded more like she was saying words to say words instead of being genuine. She let out an indignant snort, but kept moving.
"Serving?" Aphaerla scratched her head. "Are we talking about the same place?"
She lived on the upper floors because she lived in one of the orphanages. They were always in the larger apartments because of the number of people that lived in them, so even though she wasn't rich, she spent a lot of time in the areas with lots of rich people. She'd gotten used to people that had other people cook for them, or always went out to eat. Aphaerla also knew that most of the apartments on the higher floors had their own kitchens, though the one she lived in didn't. Apparently having so many children in one place with a potential fire hazard and loud utensils didn't go over well in the past, so she had to walk a fair distance to get to where the food for her was stored, and she had to cook it herself. Thus, the place she was talking about didn't actually serve any food.
Regardless, she wasn't about to lose any kind of challenge, even if she had no idea where this girl was going, and sprinted down the hallway after taking a moment to wipe more blood off her nose. Aphaerla moved even faster than she was when she collided with the other girl. Not only was she trying to get to the delicious eggs and sausage faster, but there was an actual competition one the line too, so she had to rise to the occasion! As always, she didn't bother to take the elevator. It was too slow for her when she could just run down the stairs.

"Uhh yes." Theodora informed the girl as she continued to run further down into the hall. She seemed like she could outrun the girl with her numerous jogging training. The smell of the cafeteria got closer and closer as Theodora looked joyous of winning the challenge.
However she was surprised to see that the girl was starting to outrun her and gasped when she did and groaned. She wasn't going to lose that easily and so while the girl took the stairs. Theodora decided to take the elevator since she was starting to get tired from all this jogging, especially since she's starting to get hungry and she didn't want to become dizzy as well, that would have been a bad start for the day.
Theodora quickly arrived at the elevator, and after a minute, watched it open before going in it. After another minute the elevator closed and started to move down to the same floor as the cafeteria, hopefully, her parents were not waiting for her at the other side of the door, or else the challenge would suddenly end abruptly.
"Oh who am I kidding. She's surely going to be at the cafeteria by now." Theo thought sadly.

Running through empty hallways was easy compared to what she was used to. Aphaerla had been training her entire life, and started training in Twilight Jungle shortly after she turned seven. Exactly what her parents expected her to use her physical prowess for she didn't know and honestly was okay with not knowing given what happened. All that effort did mean that she was fast, agile, and had more endurance than the average person. She pushed herself hard, because even after her parents' deaths, the desire to get stronger and save the world had been drilled into her head so hard that it was all she could think about. When she wasn't thinking about breakfast at least.
Thus, the stairs were no problem for her. Most of the time, she didn't even touch the stairs, preferring to bounce off the walls and slide down the railing when possible. It was much faster than going down the stairs normally, and speed was all that mattered here. She left a few marks on the wall because the bottoms of her shoes were a little dirty, and one of the railings collapsed under her weight, but she had little doubt it'd be fixed the next time she went up the stairs, so it was no big deal.
She reached the bottom of the stairs in record time, and sprinted towards the cafeteria. Part of her thought about waiting at the entrance, but given she was talking about someone serving food instead of cooking it herself, Aphaerla still wasn't sure if the other girl was talking about the same place she was heading to. Plus, waiting sounded boring even if it might give her the opportunity to be smug. So, she made her way over to the fridge she had access to and started making some eggs and sausage for herself on one of the empty cooktops. Quickly, the smell of sausage and eggs filled the air, and the crackling from her cooking could be heard from the entrance of the cafeteria.

Theodora waited, and waited, and waited until finally the door to the elevator opened. "Woop." She said to herself before she continued running down the hall, eventually reaching the cafeteria. Where the girl reached it first, having got food for herself. Theo was disappointed that she lost, but well she could always try and win next time. "Aww." She said out loud, loud enough for the girl to hear as she walked towards her, noticing how fast she got her food.
"Oh, I see you got food already." Theodora said before looking at the food that was being displayed nearby. "Hang on, i'll get some as well so I can join you." Theodora quipped as she left to get some food for herself when she came back. She was holding a tray filled with various foods before she sat on the table across from the girl, looking happy that her parents weren't here yet.
"Nice job that you won the challenge by the way." Theodora cajoled before introducing herself. "My names Theodora, Theodora Quelqu'un. It's nice to meet you," Theodora said as she tapped her fork into the sausage on her tray.

Aphaerla had no idea how to cook. No one had taken the time to explain it to her, and it never occurred to her to check the internet for directions, so she watched people in the kitchen a few times and tried to mimic them. As far as she could tell, all people did was put some cold food into pans and leave them there for awhile and then they were suddenly edible somehow. She didn't bother to stir or roll anything around in the frying pan, instead opting to get a big glass of orange juice while it cooked. It meant that when it was done enough to be edible, because she wasn't going to wait any longer than necessary, her food was simultaneously burnt and only partially cooked; one side was completely black, and the other was completely raw. She'd been eating sausage and eggs like this for so long that it didn't even taste weird anymore. Satisfied, she took a seat and started chowing down.
She just shrugged when the girl walked by. The other girl could do what she wanted, it wasn't going to make Aphaerla slow down any. Breakfast was too good for that. By the time she came back, Aphaerla was already about half way done with her food, and that's only because she took a large serving. She had already finished 2 of the 4 eggs she made and 4 of the 8 sausages, and was most of the way through her orange juice.
"Aphaerla," was all she said back to Theodora's introduction.
She kept her last name to herself, she didn't want to be associated with her parents. Of course, while she talked she didn't bother to stop eating, so her mouth was stuffed to the brim with breakfast. Enough so, that when she did speak, a few chewed up pieces of sausage flew out of her mouth and right towards Theodora's face.

Theo tapped her food that she had on a plate. "You...Don't have a middle name?" Theodora said as she began to eat her food once she finished chewing she spoke again. "Well, I can understand that. After all, we just met." Theodora quipped, however, her happy face quickly turned to a frown when the girl, whose name is Aphaeria, spat food onto her face while she was chewing. Theodora reacted in disgust but she didn't want to say anything bad to the girl, least she starts a fight in the cafeteria.
And that would be very bad on Theodora's part if she was caught fighting around here.
Theodora briefly shrunk in embarrassment before moving back into her regular size again as she groaned. "Uh, can I ask something?" Theodora requested before talking about her request. "Could you please, not spit on my face while chewing. It's rude." Theo advised the girl as she smiled again. "I suggest swallowing and then speaking."

"Huh?"
What did a middle name have to do with anything? Did most people introduce themselves with their middle name? This girl didn't even introduce herself with her middle name did she? Aphaerla was assuming that was her first and last name at least, but maybe it wasn't? She didn't understand what having just met had to do with anything either. While her brain tried to puzzle it all out, her mouth hung half open, still filled with half-chewed food. She shook her head to knock herself out of her thoughts when the other girl started talking. She missed the first few words, but she was pretty sure she got the gist of it.
"What? I'm not spitting."
A few more small pieces of food ejected from her mouth as she spoke. She really didn't notice because of how small the pieces were, or she might be more concerned with the amount of sausage she was losing.

Theodora dodged the small pieces of food that were being shot at her like little tiny bullets that do little more than make her cheeks itchy from the impact. Once she finished dodging and ate a bit of her food, she looked back at Aphaerla disappointingly as she continued to eat her food. "Of course they're hard to see because there little pieces of food that are coming out from between your teeth and are hitting my face," Theo informed Aphaerla.
"Then again, maybe it's my fault. I should have brought a book to read since I was going to head to this cafeteria even if I didn't do that jogging challenge with you anyway." Theodora decided to change the subject and smiled. "So, which part of this building do you live in?" She asked, smiling a bit. Despite what just happened with the food spitting, she wanted to have a nice conversation with this girl she just met.
